Background
Appalachia was on the front line of anti-poverty policy in the 1960s, but four decades later a large swath of the region remains mired in persistent poverty. This working conference brings together leading economists and demographers to assist UKCPR in establishing a research agenda to help us better understand long-term poverty in Appalachia and to identify potential policy options.
